This year the Patchogue-Medford High School Robotics Team competed in the U.S. FIRST National Robotics Competition and placed second in their division and sixth in the nation.
The event was held at Disney World's EPCOT Center in Florida on April 5-8, 2001. There were over 340 teams from all across the United States and Canada. In addition to the team's outstanding performance, one of its members, senior Eric Winstanley, won a $30,000 scholarship based on his essay about his involvement with the team.
